This Privacy Policy describes how Bendaoud Apps ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Pet Care Passport mobile application ("the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address — used for passwordless sign-in via one-time passcode (OTP)
  • Display name — optionally provided by you in your profile
  • Phone number — optionally provided by you in your profile

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account.

1.2 Pet Information

You may voluntarily enter the following information about your pets:

  • Pet name, species, breed, date of birth, weight, gender, and photo
  • Vaccination records (vaccine name, date administered, next due date, veterinarian)
  • Medication records (medication name, dosage, frequency, start/end dates)
  • Medication adherence logs
  • Reminders (title, date, recurrence)
  • Health documents (uploaded images or scanned documents)
  • Emergency contact information (name, phone number, relationship)

1.3 Device Permissions

The App may request the following device permissions:

  • Camera — to scan or photograph health documents
  • Photo Library — to upload existing photos of documents or your pet
  • Notifications — to send reminders for vaccinations, medications, and other health tasks

These permissions are requested only when needed and can be revoked at any time through your device settings.

1.4 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • Location data
  • Contact lists
  • Browsing history
  • Audio recordings
  • Device identifiers for advertising purposes

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve the App's functionality:

  • To authenticate your account and provide secure access
  • To store and display your pet's health records
  • To send you reminders about upcoming vaccinations, medications, and health tasks
  • To enable sharing of pet information with family members or pet sitters you designate
  • To generate emergency cards containing your pet's critical health information

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing to third parties, or profiling.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform built on PostgreSQL. Supabase provides:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL)
  • Encryption at rest
  • Row-level security policies to ensure users can only access their own data

Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth, which supports industry-standard protocols for email OTP and OAuth (Google Sign-In).

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

We do not use any analytics services, crash reporting tools, or advertising SDKs.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Your data may be shared only in the following circumstances:

  • With people you designate — you can invite family members or pet sitters to view your pet's information
  • Service providers — with the third-party services listed above, solely to operate the App
  • Legal requirements — if required by law, regulation, or legal process

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual records at any time within the App. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers, including:

  • Your user profile
  • All pet profiles and associated health records
  • All vaccinations, medications, and adherence logs
  • All documents, reminders, and emergency contacts
  • All family member and pet sitter sharing relationships

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data at any time through the App
  • Correct your information by editing your profile or pet records
  • Delete your account and all associated data from within the App (Settings > Delete Account)
  • Withdraw consent for optional permissions (camera, photos, notifications) through your device settings
  • Request a copy of your data by contacting us

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. International Data Transfers

Your data may be stored and processed in the region where our cloud infrastructure provider (Supabase) operates. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically for any changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
